Description
Robert Landarsky (b. 1936)
In 1955, Robert Landarsky began focusing almost exclusively on painting country landscapes, which became a central part of his work. Like Monet, Landarsky explored atmospheric variations in similar subjects, with the sky and water playing a key role in his art. He skillfully captured the effects of light and the complex atmosphere of evening scenes, paying attention to detail with precise brushstrokes.
Over the years, Landarsky cemented his reputation as one of Belarus’s greatest contemporary artists—a country also known as the birthplace of Marc Chagall, Kremegne Soutine, Alex Salaueu, and Ossip Lubtich. In 2003, he was honored with the title of “Honored Artist of Belarus.” His striking landscapes and remarkable modernity have earned him international recognition. Landarsky’s spontaneous brushstrokes and use of color to create effects of transparency reflect his deep admiration for Monet.
Robert Landarsky is one of the rare contemporary artists who strongly reminds us of Claude Monet in many ways. He was born on April 1, 1936, in Gomel, Belarus. He studied art at the Gomel Art Institute, graduating in 1958, and later completed his education at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture of Ilya Repin in Leningrad in 1966. In 1979, he became a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists, and in 2003, he was awarded the title of “Honored Artist of Belarus.” For many years, he served as President of the Gomel Union of Artists. Throughout his career, Landarsky received numerous accolades, including the Medal of the Belarusian Union of Artists “For the Development of Art.”
