Tony Zhuravel (1963) ”Horizons”, 2012, 80×70 cm

Tony Zhuravel (b. 1963) – Horizons, 2012
Acrylic on canvas, 80 x 70 cm

A striking exploration of space and dimension, Horizons embodies Tony Zhuravel’s mastery of abstract composition. The painting’s geometric structure is disrupted by spontaneous splashes of color, creating a dynamic contrast between order and chaos. The deep blues and fiery reds evoke an atmospheric intensity, reminiscent of shifting horizons and infinite depth. Zhuravel’s technique of layering and texture manipulation enhances the illusion of movement, drawing the viewer into an ever-changing visual experience. A compelling statement piece, Horizons is an exceptional addition to any contemporary art collection.

Description

Tony Zhuravel (b. 1963, Orsha, Belarus) is a contemporary Belarusian artist known for his bold fusion of Impressionism, Cubism, and Pop Art. A graduate of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, he became a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists in 1997. His distinctive style is characterized by a dynamic layering technique, where textures and colors intertwine to create visually striking compositions.

Zhuravel’s work explores the interplay between abstraction and form, often incorporating vibrant and unconventional color palettes. His abstract landscapes reimagine the horizon, transforming it into a rich tapestry of hues and textures. His artistic vision places him among the most notable figures of the Vitebsk Art School, the historic movement founded by Marc Chagall and Kazimir Malevich.

In 2009, he represented Belarus at the Venice Biennale, cementing his reputation as a leading force in contemporary Belarusian art. His works are part of prestigious collections, including the Belarusian National Arts Museum in Minsk, the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, and the Museum of Modern Art in Mogilev.

Zhuravel’s art is a celebration of movement, light, and emotion—each piece an invitation to experience color and form in an entirely new way.
